QLD Beach - Queensland Beach

Queensland Beaches in the top part of Australia are ranked amongst the best beached anywhere in the world and for every possible condition. The biggest section of beaches running alongside the 7520km coastline covers many environments from the massive surf beaches to relaxing soothing water beaches. Water colours are ar truly tranquil and the temperature is most comfortable, the sun beams down all year-round, except in the wet season (Jan- April).

So where is this Queensland?

QLD Map Australia

QLD is situated in the top east corner of Australia, and is Australia's second largest state. QLD covers an area of 1 723 100 km2, with a coastline stretching for 7520 km's. The capital city is Brisbane and is located in the lower east of the state. The State is bounded by 4 waterways, all with their own characteristics.

a. The Gulf of Carpentaria is a very large body of water that shrouds the sparsely populated part of Queensland in the top west. This area has very few beaches and is not renowned for it tourist potential. However, this region is very beautiful as an outback location.

b. From the southeastern corner of the state to Mackay, the vast Pacific Ocean rumbles onto the beaches creating surfing conditions. Beaches in this area include Surfers Paradise and Noosa, and are the most frequently visited in all of Queensland.

c. At the very tip of Queensland is the Torres Strait. This is a narrow channel filled with small islands. The islands in this area are stunningly beautiful and have remarkable beaches, but access is difficult. Tourist access to this part of the country is limited.

d. Stretching from Cooktown to Mackay is the Coral Sea. This is the tropical zone where the water is very warm and calm on most days. The beaches are always sun-drenched, and offer spectacular fishing.
